Website Promotion

Website Promotion, the last essential element for Internet success,
can be broken down into 7 distinct functional areas.

Website promotion with search engines:  Since it is estimated that 80% of all visitors to the Internet use search engines on a regular basis, this is the single most important element of your website promotion.  Our website submittal packages will get you listed on the major search engines.  Please keep in mind that the fact that you are listed is not enough.....  Where you are listed on the search engine is critical.  With the number of search engine database listings rivaling the population of the world, it is critical that your listing be as near to the beginning of the list as possible. With this in mind, we offer the following options:

Basic Website Promotion Plan -- includes a single submission of your website to hundreds of link sites plus the major search engines.  We will be using the basic information which you will be asked to provide, and will only involve submitting your primary URL.  Please note that this package does NOT include any website evaluations on our part.  It should be used only by those who have spent hours and hours of study and research into the art of website promotion.

Advanced Website Promotion Plan -- Includes all of the above plus: --- We will visit your website, review your meta tags, page titles etc. and, if needed, provide you with new HTML for the heading area of your website.  This information should be included on all pages of your website.  In addition, when appropriate, we will create specific doorway pages.  After you have made the necessary changes, we will make a single submission of your primary URL plus up to 10 internal pages to the major search engines (when allowed by the respective search engines).  This plan will greatly improve the positioning of your website within the search engines.

Comprehensive Website Promotion Plans -- Note: Surveys have shown that the techniques which we employ in our comprehensive website promotion plans result in a dramatic increase in website traffic, often as much as 300%.  The comprehensive website promotion plan is created for you based on each individual situation. The development of this plan starts with a consulting fee, which covers an in depth visit to your website.  The overall appearance, content and HTML for your site is evaluated. We suggest a minimum of 2 hours as the starting point.  This will cover the first visit (unless your website is poorly written or huge) plus several emails back and forth.... From that point, we will be able to create your full plan.   If you then have us do an advanced website promotion, plus the writing of the needed html changes and minor context changes, we will give you budget figures for the cost. If your website needed major rewriting, then the rewriting would be priced separately.  As we create the overall
plan, we will incorporate many other elements (see below) into your overall website promotion plan.

Note: The question often is asked "Does paying the search engines a fee work?"

The answer is a qualified "yes".  In most instances, for certain of the search engines with fee structures, it does pay.  Additionally, in some instances such as a business site submitting to Yahoo, there is no choice

Each website needs to be evaluated for the probable return on investment
as it pertains to paid submissions for each of the major search engines and directories.

Website promotion Using Links:  Links to other websites should be an important element on your overall website promotion plan.  Many search engines use the number of links back to you as a factor in determining your relative ranking.  Also, since reciprocal links are often done with websites that have similar or related types of content, the visitors are often much more interested in your site than the casual visitor would be.  There are several methods which can be used to obtain links, including applying for free links through one of the link swapping services, as well as by contacting other websites and requesting reciprocal links.

NOTE: The use of the "Free For ALL" links (aka FFA pages) has one benefit, namely to fill your email box with mail.  Your listings do not stay on an FFA page long enough to be of any benefit at all.  Therefore, they do not even provide the benefit of trying to fool the search engines into thinking that your website is more popular than it really is.

Website promotion using classified ads:  Classified advertising on the Internet falls into two broad categories. First, there are the free classifieds.  There are probably thousands of sites world wide that now accept free classified listings.  In addition, there are many fee based sites.  The fees range from very low (several dollars per month) to higher amounts for long term commitments. In addition, many sights offer "bell and whistles" in the form of colors, animation etc. also for a fee.

The value of classified ads can not be overstated - - they have a very important place in the overall marketing plan.  Critical to their success is the ability to write effective advertising copy, and then to be able to accurately evaluate the effectiveness of not only the ad copy, but its location as well.

Website promotion using newsgroup postings: Newsgroups are another effective means to reaching consumers on the Internet.  These are "mini communities" that openly exchange ideas on a wide variety of subjects.  Each newsgroup usually specializes on a particular subject, so great care must be exercised in selecting the group in which you want to participate.  In addition, the "rules" of the different newsgroups vary widely, with some not allowing any form of advertising at all - others allow signature advertising - still others allow open advertising.  To avoid spamming issues and the resulting flames (or worse such as being shut down by your ISP) you should spend quite a bit of time visiting and observing a newsgroup prior to posting to it.

Website promotion using e-mail:  E-mail, which is still the most active part of the Internet, can help your website promotion in many ways.  Every e-mail sent should contain your website address as a part of the signature. Example:

yourname
e-mail: yourname@yourdomain.com
www.yourdomain.com
Often a phrase describing products or services is also added

 example:Chip

Website promotion using Mailing Lists: Every effort should be taken to generate mailing lists of interested visitors.  Your website itself can be structured to encourage the collection of these e-mail addresses.  Guest books, newsletter applications, and provisions for sending additional information through the use of auto responders are examples of mailing list generators.  These mailing lists can then be utilized to keep advertising your website (and your products).

Website promotion not involving the InternetEvery piece of written material is an opportunity for website promotion.  Business cards, pamphlets, brochures, letterheads, invoices, statements, advertising in other media such print, radio etc., telephone directories can all have a tremendous impact on the number of website visitors.  One of our early clients taught us the value of this, by placing his e-mail address and website address in his newspaper advertising.  That website was showing immediate hits, even before any search engines were notified.

Public Relations and Press Releases.  If you can, always take a hint from the public relations field. Anything that you can do to get good free exposure will help your website.  In addition, press releases should be sent to newspapers and magazines announcing your new products and/or services.  These press releases should not be confined to just your local area, since the Internet is truly global in nature.

We can develop promotion plans for you which can cover any or all of the various aspects of website promotion. Please inquire
